Yellow Chandelier & the Best of DIY Party

~Ready for the BEST of DIY Party?!~

Are you a fan of ceiling fans? If you’re like me, you have a love/hate relationship with them. I love to USE a ceiling fan…but I hate to LOOK at them…

What’s a girl to do?

Take a chandelier that you got on sale for $25 and DIY it…

Yellow Chandelier

This project is perfect to share today…the BEST of DIY Party is all about great DIYs and I love this quick and easy chandelier makeover.

It started out as a simple glossy black fixture. I originally purchased it to use in my daughter’s room, but she wouldn’t give up her fan because she loves to have it running at night. So, I couldn’t use it in her room, but I kept it anyways.  I got it at 75% off and I figured I could use it somewhere.

It’s a laser cut design and came with black crystals to be added on each arm.

I’ll be honest, I like it with the black finish, but I decided to use it in my home office/craft room…where I have no black. Using Valspar Satin Spray Paint in Whipped Apricot, I gave it a brand new look that looks unbelievable in my space.

Goodbye ceiling fan…hello gorgeous yellow chandelier…

Doesn’t it look perfect with my DIY Office Curtains and my Faux Bamboo Shade made from placemats?

Before I began painting, I taped off the light bulb sockets and the ends of the wires using Frog Tape. It did take two full coats with a few touch-ups to get a good coverage. I actually hung it from a tree to be able to spray paint it from every angle. It’s very important to be able to get to it while hanging, because once it’s hanging from the ceiling, you want every inch to be covered.

It looks so pretty lit as well…

That yellow is the prettiest shade of yellow and looks great on the chandelier. It goes so well in your room and with your window coverings! I can see in the background your woven bamboo shades and I remember that DIY project with the placemats and thinking “that is ingenious!” It definitely stuck in my mind! 🙂 Having fun hopping around visiting such great DIY projects tonight. Have a great weekend!

Hi Leslie! How are you? Mostly sunny here! Which brings me to your lovely chandelier. I love that you used yellow. It is my favorite pop of color used in our home! Makes me smile. Um, I think you would have to fight me on the ceiling fan in the bedroom too. Our master does not have one, but I need white noise to sleep and use a freestanding fan. So, I can relate to your daughter not giving up the ceiling fan. They are definitely a love/hate relationship, as you said. Thanks for hosting the party! Have a great weekend. ~Michelle

Oh I love your chandelier redo. Oh and I can not give up a ceiling fan ANYWHERE that I have them and want two more. I would like to have a chandelier like yours over my dinette table. Yes, I only have a small dining room….. tiny house ya know? It appears I will be spending a lot of time checking out some of the blog shares on here….. I can barely wait to read about several …… or more. Thank you for all the inspiration. I have been dying to do your place mat window shades, but no luck finding them yet.

Thank you Sheryll! I do love to sleep with a fan too. The office is a good place for it, because I never used the fan in that room. Have a great weekend!

I want to put a chandelier in my daughter’s room, but like your daughter she prefers a ceiling fan.

I love the chandelier in yellow. ( I liked it in black, too.) But now it looks so fresh.

Thank you Sharon! I really loved it both ways too, but the yellow turned out even better than I expected. Have a great weekend and I’m enjoying hosting this party with you!

What a beautiful chandelier. My husband asked if I wanted a ceiling fan in our bedroom.I opted out,but pull out our free standing fan when I need it.I would add a chandelier to our ceiling in a heart beat if I could!

Love this! I’ve got a small chandelier hanging over our tub that I don’t like. This would be a great idea to change the look of it. Thanks for sharing and thanks for hosting the linky party!
