~Do a Switch-a-Roo~
Years ago, my church held a clothing drive. We had collected gently used clothing for several months. On the eve of the scheduled giveaway day, several members of the congregation gathered together and sorted the clothes…putting jeans in one area, dresses in another…etc.
While I was sorting through some jackets, I came across one that caught my eye…”Hey! I think this was my jacket.” I slipped it on and admired how pretty it was. Obviously…I liked it the first time too!
Isn’t that how we are when it comes to our decor. If we like it the first time, we don’t really want to get rid of it. When I have a vignette, bookcase or table decorated, it’s hard to take the look away…turning it into holiday decor.
But I’ve discovered that when it comes to Fall Decor, you really do not have to completely dismantle the look of your home to decorate for the holiday and season. You can make some simple changes that will keep with your home decor style, while welcoming in Fall. It’s easy to turn home decor into fall decor…
Earlier in the year, I moved this console table from my basement in to my living room. I chose to because it’s one of my favorite pieces in my home and I was tired of it being hidden in the basement, where I could never enjoy it.
After I moved it against this large wall, I created a layered vignette and loved it.
This look is exactly what I want for this space. I love the table. I love the variety of height and texture. I didn’t want to lose it when I began my Fall decorating. So I decided to switch out a few key pieces…
First, I knew I wanted to keep the height given by the berries and branches. I moved the lantern to the end of the table and removed the brown glass bottles. They were replaced with my new wooden tiered stand that I found at HomeGoods.
I filled the stand with pinecones, white pumpkins, bittersweet branches and magnolia leaves.
The list of favorite things about fall is from a great printable I found at Simply Kierste. I actually wrote it free-hand, following her design, but Kierste has a free printable that you can grab for yourself.
I wanted to keep my milk glass cake stand, so I removed the golden arrowhead and added a grapevine pumpkin.
Below the table, I replaced the red wire baskets with my new seagrass basket with faux fur throw and I added the tallest brown glass bottle.
By replacing some select pieces of my regular home decor with some simple fall decor, I’m able to decorate for the season and keep my style…
I’m sharing my fall decor as part of the Fall Home Decor Tour with some other amazing bloggers. Be sure to visit the others to get some wonderful fall decor ideas and inspirations. The links can be found below…
