The countdown to Halloween has begun. The lurking hour is near. Are you ready? Don’t worry…you can do it. Planning an awesome Halloween party doesn’t have to take weeks and hours of work. There are tons of DIYs and crafts that can be done at the last minute that will make your party amazing.

I’ve teamed up with JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores to share a last minute DIY for the holiday. It’s the perfect Halloween banner for the perfect Halloween party.

Happy Halloween Banner

Every great Halloween party needs a banner to greet the guests and wish them a Happy Halloween. With that in mind, I headed to my local JoAnn store to gather some supplies; burlap ribbon, wooden letters and shapes, as well as some fun Halloween bats from Martha Stewart.

My first step was to add some color to the letters with craft paint and paint markers. The paint dries really fast, but if you need the extra time, markers or Sharpies work great on these wooden letters and shapes.

Guess how I used the skull and witches’ hats?…my O and A’s in Happy Halloween. The little hats make an awesome A and the skull is a great spooky O!

Once the letters were dry, I added them to the burlap ribbon with hot glue. *Tip: the burlap ribbon is loosely woven, so once you add the glued letter to the burlap, immediately pull the ribbon off the tabletop surface. This will allow the letter to adhere to the ribbon, but keep the ribbon from sticking to the surface.

Once the banners were ready, I needed to figure out a way to hang them on my mirror. My solution was to use basic suction cups with hooks.

I use them for my Christmas wreaths and they work great on windows and mirrors. I positioned them on the back of the ribbon, behind the letters.

After I hung both banners, I surrounded them with the bats by Martha Stewart, using tape to secure them to the mirror.

Thank you Connie! That mirror is from Pottery Barn, but there are some DIY versions out there. Check out pinterest for paned mirrors or Pottery Barn knock-off mirrors…Hope that helps!
