Sunburst mirrors are everywhere. They are on-trend and make a great focal point for any space. They’re perfect because they come in different shapes and sizes. You can easily find one to fit your needs.
And if you can’t….you can DIY your own.
My daughter’s bedroom at our beach house needed some fabulous wall decor, so I decided to join a sunburst mirror with the letters L, V and E to create LOVE.
If you notice, the mirror itself is hexagon shape. I found it at Restore for $3. The “bursts” are wooden skewers that I glued to the back of the mirror using wood glue. I clipped the pointed ends (after I practically stabbed myself). I then covered and taped off the mirror and spray painted the frame and skewers with Krylon “Gold” in Satin finish.
I love the way it turned out! It was a simple DIY that gave the room big impact.
A sunburst mirror can be created with just about any size mirror. You can get creative by using skewers, paint sticks, dowels or even paper to make the bursts. Anything that creates the look will work. Don’t pay full price for a sunburst mirror when you can DIY your own.
