Goals for the Year 2013

Journal Entry #2

Goals for the Year 2013

I mentioned last week that I’m participating in Folk Magazine’s Journaling Agenda. Last week, I had to write a letter to my 2012 self about lessons learned last year. This week, I need to think about short-term and long-term goals for the year 2013.

I googled and according to Wikipedia, a resolution is a commitment that we make toward one or more goals.

I’ll be honest…I’m not sure I’ve really set specific, hard-core resolutions this year. That’s not to say that I haven’t thought about projects I want to finish or for that matter…projects that I want to begin!

I would say that #1 on my list of long-term goals would have to be a LAUNDRY ROOM MAKEOVER! I really, really, really do not like my laundry room. It’s small, boring and inefficient!

I’m not going to show you a picture of it today, because if I did…you would see a mountain of laundry! So, I’ll save that for another day, but I will show you a couple of pictures of some “dream” laundry rooms.

Stacking my washer and dryer would be great for my laundry because of the size of the room. The cabinet space would be a must for extra storage and I love the open cabinet space for your laundry basket.

I really want a great sink in my laundry room! I have one of those ugly laundry sinks. Yuck! Is it too much to ask for a real sink!?!?!? The Project Girl did an amazing laundry room makeover! I love everything about her cabinetry, sink and especially the great countertop across the washer and dryer. What a great place to sort and fold your laundry!

Another goal for me this year is to create a beautiful, functional space for me to work. I want to create an office/craft room. The idea started to grow in my head last Fall. Unfortunately it didn’t grow very tall! I still have not accomplished the task of creating an awesome space for myself.

I’m loving the beauty and organization of this craft room found at BHG! I would want a larger workstation, but the shelves and rods are great.

This office/craft room would be perfect! There is an area for creating and a desk area that would be great for sitting at the laptop. It’s the best of both worlds! I love the peg board with the scissors, brushes and tools. It’s functional and beautiful!

While there are many more projects, both big and small, that I would like to finish this year, I think my laundry room and office space are the most important to me. They have been on my mind for a long time and have just simply eluded me!

I need to get focused, get in gear and get some things accomplished!

Wish me luck!

I would like to make the same home goals as you, but I won’t make them because they depend on my husband and he’s always too busy with his job (NOT his choice). My laundry room was supposed to have been redone 10 years ago and I’m still waiting. I hope you have much better luck with your goal! It will be beautiful, I’m sure!

I know what you mean! My husband doesn’t have the time (or the desire) to put that much time and work into major projects. I’m going to try my best to get things done. Have a great week.

Wishing you luck with those changes. Carving out space for ourselves, whether as a work space (as in a functional but attractive laundry room) or a work room is important. Anything surrounding that makes us feel good can only be good. Something we would all benefit from if we did that in our lives.
