Fall Decor does not have to be extravagant and bold. It can be understated and simple. Let me show you some of my Fall decor in its simplicity.
You all know that I like to “shop my house” and find things that I can use in other ways. It shakes things up a little bit and breathes some new life into old objects.
Yesterday, this corner cabinet was filled with a collection of white dishes and other pottery. I played a game of switcheroo and came up with an arrangement of simple objects, combined with a “rustic” touch here and there.
I found these great acorns at JoAnn’s Fabric and used them as the foundation of the look. I decided to keep my white dishes and add greens and browns into the mix. Those acorns are huge! Look at the detail and the amazing texture on them. They are so cute sitting on my cake stand.
I made this great burlap banner to hang on one of the doors of the cabinet. I stenciled a monogram and some decorative detail on it, to give it a personalized touch. Burlap is a great material to add some interest to your decor. It’s primitive and simple, giving any Fall decor a great look. I like the leaf detail in the corners. It goes right along with my acorns. In the first picture, you can see the “rod” for the banner is a stick. Can you get more natural than that?!
Here’s an example of mixing in some more green and brown, adding some interest to the space. Look at the teeny basket…isn’t it cute! The wooden “stick” sticking out of the bowl is an antique knitting needle holder. The faux grass brings in some more natural elements.
This antique Fenton glassware, is a much softer green. I like the numerous shades of green represented. It adds depth to the arrangement.
So what do you think about the final result?
I love the white dishes mixed with the earthy tones. I like the combination of clean, fresh pottery and items from nature…the grass and acorns. The arrangement is subtle, yet stunning. It’s Fall Decor in its Simplicity.
