~Dorm Decor Inspiration~

Yesterday, my two youngest headed back-to-school…high school! They’re growing up so fast. I feel like they were starting kindergarten just a few years ago. Soon they’ll be heading to college…which is not new to me either. My oldest two are on that path now.

That step into college is a big one! For me, it’s like the point of no return. They’re venturing out, becoming adults stepping out into the world. They’re making their own decisions and living on their own…even if it’s just in a dorm room.

Today I’m sharing two inspiration boards that might help you get your college kids ready for the dorm. I’m sharing one the girls and one for the guys.

~I was on TV…~

I’m not sure if you all know, but I appear on one of our local TV stations on the first Tuesday of every month. I have a segment where I share easy and affordable DIY projects and crafts. It’s a lot of fun and I don’t get as nervous as I did when I started appearing on the show, which was last Thanksgiving.

Each month, I choose a theme for my projects. If you’d like to see some of them, you can find the links here or under the Press Tab in my menu at the top. I’ve shared metallic decor ideas, holiday projects and some fun command center DIYs.

For August, I decided to share some ideas for DIY Dorm Room Decor, which included my recent Magazine Collage Art, Washi Tape Picture Frames and a Lamp Makeover with Faux Fur. Since it’s time for back-to-school, it was the perfect choice.

Take a look at my segment…(she even commented on how young I look to have kids in college…) I’ll keep this clip forever!:)

Have fun going back-to-school! Do you have any kids heading off for college?

Oh how cute you are!!! How old were you when you got married? You sure do NOT look like a woman with two college kids. Amazing! And loved the video of you and wow, you are quite beautiful….. this tape really shows how glamorous you truly are. And I LOVE the lamp shade….. no I am not a kid either.

    • Thank you so much for your kind words! I got married at 18 and had my first one at 21. It seems like just yesterday. So glad you stopped by.

  2. My oldest will be a freshman in collage and moves into her dorm room in one week. This mom has mixed emotions, but mostly good ones. Thanks for the inspiration boards!

  4. Hi, love the boys dorm decor. My son is headed off to school next week and although he isn’t very fussy about his room Mom feels differently! It was great meeting you at Haven, hope to see you there again next year. Congrats on your TV segment, that is awesome!

    • Jessica,
Last year, my oldest son said, “just give a pillow and a blanket…” Of course he knew there was no way he was getting away with that! I added some touches of my own and he loved them. Even though they really won’t let us know, they like it that we try to make it special and a little like home.
Have a good weekend and I hope he has a great school year!
