~Struck By Cupid~
Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it and I’ve started working on creating a Valentine table for two. After getting inspired by the current Arrow trend in home decor, I decided to create some DIY Valentine’s Day Arrow Napkins.
Take a peek at some of the arrow inspiration that I found…
How great is this pillow from Earth Cadets?
Pottery Barn never disappoints. Just look at these arrow bookends.
With such a cool trend, who could resist incorporating into Valentine’s Day. It’s perfect for Cupid’s favorite day!
This project is easy and fun! I used some plain white napkins that I’ve had for a while, but you could definitely get some new ones from the dollar store. For the arrows, I used these great fabric markers from Tulip. The markers are permanent. You make your creation and let them dry for 24 hours. They are then completely washable.
I wanted the design to be as symmetrical as possible, even though I knew I’d be doing it freehand, so I used Frog Tape to create straight lines. I wanted the arrows to be 2″ long and I wanted 2″ between the arrows. Using a sharpie, I marked the 2 inches where the arrows would be drawn.
Once I had the tape set, I used the red fabric marker to create the straight line of the arrow.
After the lines were made, I removed the tape and began creating the arrow heads and the fletchings (the “feathers” on the end of the arrow). For the fletchings, I drew three angled marks on each side of the arrow.
For the arrow heads, I drew little triangles.
The arrows are spaced evenly and are all the same length, but the freehand arrow heads and fletchings make the napkins unique and one-of-a-kind.
After the design was finished, I allowed them to dry and gave the napkins a touch up with the iron.
The table will soon be set for a Valentine’s Day dinner for two!
