~DIY Hand-painted Wood Sign~
I think snow has been around for a lot of us lately, but I am definitely ready for spring! So much so that I decided to create my own “sign of spring!” Pun intended…
I always gauge spring by the buds that begin to bloom. It’s my favorite time of the year! I love to walk around outside and just take a peek at each new bud that begins to pop out! I’m not sure why…but I think it’s the sense of renewal, of starting fresh.
A few days ago, I shared my Easter table decorations in which I used these cute speckled eggs and my new faux tulips. Once my spring sign was finished, I knew I had to use them on mantel.
I wanted to create a mantel of light, fresh colors. I wanted it to have a soft peaceful look.
My wooden sign was the finishing touch! The quote alone makes me smile…”Never yet was a springtime, when the buds forgot to bloom.” -Margaret Elizabeth Sangster
My spring sign was easy to make and I’m going to share exactly how easy!
The piece of wood I used was a side panel of an old hutch that was in such bad shape I literally took it apart for scrapes! If you look closely, you can see a hole or two. But that’s how I like it! There’s a story there…
I used the font Papyrus and printed the quote about spring from Microsoft Word. I cut out the words and arranged them on my board. Using an ink pen, I traced the letters which left an imprint in the wood. Next, I simply painted inside the lines. Easy!
My “sign of spring” brings the hope of spring front and center at my house. Find your own way to add some fresh new look to your home decor, adding a bit of spring into your life!
