Coastal Bathroom Makeover

~Beach Bathroom~

I’m so excited to be sharing my coastal bathroom makeover with you today! Do you remember my coastal bathroom inspiration board? I gathered my ideas and got to work!

Coastal Bathroom Makeover

The pictures are not perfect because the lighting in the bathroom is not great, plus there’s no natural light. So please bear with me…

This particular bathroom at my beach house is on the same floor as the living room, so officially it’s a community bathroom. Unofficially, it’s my son’s bathroom because it’s also right beside his bedroom.

Here’s the before…

First, I hated the vanity! It’s so dark and it definitely doesn’t belong in a 16 year old’s bathroom. I didn’t want the expense of a brand new vanity, so I decided to give the existing one a paint job.

Finally, it looks like it belongs at the beach!

I found these great seahorses at HomeGoods for $24.99 each. Much cheaper than the ones I found at Ballard Designs for $199.00 each! I tweaked them a little with some paint and double hooks to create a great place to hang a towel or two.

This cool hamper was found at HomeGoods. I love the wire mixed with wicker. It’s a great mix of texture!

We’ve had the white waffle weave shower curtain for a while. I found it and the white towels at Target. The black and white stripe rug is from IKEA.

The shelves from IKEA got a coat of paint as well.

I love the wooden bird from HomeGoods. We’re calling it a crane. It may not be…not sure…but we’ll go with it.

The little rope ball was a gift from my sister and the shell is from HomeGoods too.

Tip* If you want some coastal decor, a HomeGoods in Florida is the way to go! I’ve had a blast shopping there this summer!

Mirror too!…HomeGoods…

I wanted a mirror that resembled a porthole. This one really caught my eye. I love the design and the metal goes great with the other hardware in the bathroom.

I’ve never really thought about black in coastal decor until I began the thought process for making over this bathroom. As I started to search for ideas, I began to realize that black, white and a neutral shade of cream would really work. It’s a very natural look. It reminds me of the surf and sand. Plus, black is always a great base to work with in home decor.

Next week, I’ll share the “painting of the vanity” and the “transformation of the seahorses.”

Such a great, easy (maybe?!!) makeover! Don’t you just love Home Goods? The vanity turned out great. Love all your ideas and look forward to new ones.
