I know…it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but I can’t help it…I’m in the Christmas spirit and I’m so excited to share my first Christmas project of the season. It’s my Christmas fabric art and I’ve got to say that I love it!
It all started with a dishtowel…
I was actually organizing a drawer when I found this dishtowel that a friend gave me last year as a hostess gift. Isn’t it just too cute?!
My first thought…wouldn’t it make a great Christmas pillow?
My second thought…what about a decoupaged tray?
Then I remembered that I had these round frames that I picked up at a flea market years ago…
So, I cut two circles that were an inch longer than the cardboard backing. I wrapped the fabric around the cardboard backing of the frame and taped it on the back.
Yes…you heard me.
I taped the fabric to the cardboard. There are several reasons why…
I wanted to be able to remove the fabric after the holidays so that I could use the frames later and I didn’t want to walk upstairs to grab my glue gun or the craft glue.
The pop of red and white looks gorgeous with the dark vintage frames. Plus, I think the round frames are great with the lettering. I like how the words seem to be continuous beyond the frames.
The frames do have wire to hang them on the wall but I really wanted to do something a little different with them. The easels were the ones I used at my daughter’s graduation party to hold her Photo Collage Letters. It’s a fun look to sit them on the easels.
This project was very spontaneous…
And it all started with a dishtowel…
Have you started your Christmas decorating yet? I’m starting to sneak a little in, here and there.
