Bye, Bye Guest Room! Goodbye

Guest Room Conversion

Let’s Make My Space

I have a guest room. It’s a nice guest room. It’s a comfortable guest room.

Guest Room

It’s also a guest room that rarely sees a guest.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

I have a room that is used once or twice a year.

So I decided…why have a room that’s used once a year, when I can have a room that’s used everyday?!?!

A light bulb went off above my head and I decided to convert the guest room to my home office and craft room.

*insert happy dance*

I want a space that is all mine. I want a light, airy space that is efficient and beautiful. I can picture light furniture and gorgeous fabrics. I can see a stenciled feature wall. I want a great craft table and a place to sew. I want a conversation area. A place where I can sit and read or just sit. I want my space…

As of today, the bed and dresser are out of there!

Stay tuned…

P.S. Last year, I intended to convert this small space in my basement to my space, but this will be much better!

  1. Do it! Convert that room! It’s amazing, I’m in the exact same boat. I have a guest room that’s used once a year (average). A few months ago, I brought the idea up to my husband about converting the space to my craft room. We even went to Ikea to shop for a desk! (However, I never bought a desk). Since then though, the idea died. We realized that we simply have no where to store our existing bedroom furniture and what IF someone stays over again, then what?
I still say to you – go for it!!

  5. Oh how fun! I can’t wait to see how it looks finished! I’ve done the opposite – I had to get rid of my craft room to accommodate guests… :( Now all of my goodies are organized in the closet… that’s no fun!

  6. Yeah for making more functional space. We had a breakfast room that was rarely used so I sold the table and chairs and am in the process of turning into a playroom. Can’t wait to see what your new office will look like.
